This summer, The Owings Gallery presents a distinguished exhibition celebrating the depth and diversity of American art. Featuring exceptional works from Southwestern modernism to 19th-century Western landscapes and poignant interpretations of American life, the show brings together a compelling range of media including oil on canvas, works on paper, colcha embroidery, woodcut prints, and reverse glass painting. The bold modernist visions of Emil Bisttram, Ed Mell, and Cady Wells appear alongside the refined realism of Andrew Wyeth, Joseph Henry Sharp, and E. Martin Hennings. Also on view are evocative pieces by Rebecca Salsbury James, Gustave Baumann, Maynard Dixon, Victor Higgins, Barbara Latham, and Wayne Thiebaud, offering a rich and thoughtful journey through the American artistic tradition.
