Present Company: Portraits from the Taos and Santa Fe Studios, 1902 to 1983
Upcoming exhibition
-
The painters who came to Taos and Santa Fe a century ago painted the country, and they also painted the people, themselves and one another, their wives and children, and their Pueblo and Hispano neighbors, whose families were here long before them. The exhibition begins with a pencil drawing Maynard Dixon made at Ganado in 1902 and ends with a canvas Fritz Scholder painted in 1983, eighty years of portraits in which the style changes with the decade.
