Andrew Dasburg has been called "the greatest draughtsman of landscape since Van Gogh." Born in Paris on May 4, 1887, Andrew and his widowed mother emigrated to America 1892. Dasburg spent his childhood in the New York City neighborhood known as Hell's Kitchen. In 1918, Dasburg came to New Mexico at the request of his good friend Mabel Dodge. Dasburg lived and worked in New Mexico until his death in 1979.
